This is our story.

Two couples, an idea and a belief that the entrepreneurs, small business owners and remote professionals of Gippsland and of the Latrobe Valley deserved a different way to work.

Jasmine and Ben, and Matt and Kristina founded The Collective. Cospace in 2023.

Where we began.

Two couples, four different careers, one shared idea; to build something for their community, and each other, at the same time.

Jasmine spent more than 15 years working across community services, management and leadership. It left her with one clear belief: people do better when they have the right environment and the right people around them. As a mum of two, she also knows what it actually takes to balance running a business with raising a family, and wanted The Collective to be a place that makes that easier for other parents doing the same juggle.

Ben is an industrial tradesman by day and a dad the rest of the time. He's built his career on getting things done, and he brought that same practical mindset to The Collective. For Ben, this space is about people backing each other to chase what they're working toward, with a crew around them while they do it.

Matt worked at local council before discovering coworking while living and working in London, and came home determined to bring that same energy to the Latrobe Valley. He's always been drawn to what happens when different people and ideas end up in the same room. He saw the gap for a space where local talent could do exactly that.

Kristina is a primary school teacher and, like Jasmine, was navigating early motherhood when The Collective began. Education and community building sit at the centre of how she sees the world, and she understands the specific kind of isolation that comes with starting a business while raising young kids. She wanted Traralgon to have a space where people with different interests and businesses could genuinely connect, not just share an address.

We wanted to build the kind of workplace we wanted to be part of ourselves. Professional without feeling corporate. Flexible without feeling temporary. Somewhere you could get real work done, meet good people, and feel connected to something bigger than your own desk.

2023 | From empty room to workspace.

After months of looking at real estate, dreaming, planning and hoping, we accepted the keys to an empty commercial space in the heart of Traralgon in December 2023.

We took that glorious, light-filled room and started turning it into the workspace we'd been dreaming of, around day jobs and young families.

In March 2024, surrounded by friends and family, The Collective. Cospace opened its doors. It was the start of a lot more milestones to come.

The real test was always going to be what happened once people started walking through the door.

Our first members settled into desks. People started meeting over coffee. Businesses held meetings here. Connections formed between people who probably wouldn't otherwise have met. The space started developing a life of its own.

Every new business has people who show up before there's a track record. For us, those were our early members. They trusted what we were trying to create, brought their work into the space, and helped build the culture that still sits at the heart of The Collective today.

Some came for a desk. Some have stayed for years. Along the way there have been collaborations, referrals, friendships, new businesses, and plenty of conversations in the kitchen.

Every person who's come through the door has helped turn a coworking space into a community.

The Collective. Cospace was the proud Winner of the Gippsland Business Awards - New Business category.

Community & Collaborations

2025 - 2026 | Growing, refining, flourishing.

Members came and went. Some small businesses grew out of a single desk into a team. Some ran their course and closed. Either way, we got a front row seat to people building something, and that's stayed true the whole way through.

Along with the everyday of people at their desks, the space started filling up with events. Start Up Stories gave local business owners a chance to tell their story in front of a room that actually understood it.

Local businesses used the space to launch products, run workshops, and get their name out for the first time. Community groups and networks found somewhere to gather that wasn't a pub or someone's lounge room.

And then there was everything that had nothing to do with work at all. Christmas parties, social drinks, a monthly movie club. The kind of stuff that turns a room full of desks into a community… and then we were flourishing.

2026 | August

We were named a finalist again at the Gippsland Business Awards, alongside our own Collective members Gracey from HNDY Socials and Kellie Eddy, Civil Celebrant & MC.

We didn't win on the night. In our hearts, we'd already won — we'd found a business family to share the journey with.

Where we are now.

The Collective. today is home to 4 private offices and more than 20 ongoing space users and an abundance of business owners. Engineers, social media/ marketing, and photography creatives, financial planners, sales and marketing professionals, IT and data engineers, all working under the same roof.

Jasmine and Ben handle most of the day to day, with Matt and Kristina backing them up, and Will in the space keeping things running for members. All of it happening while both couples raise their young families alongside the business.

What hasn't changed is the reason we started. A space where you can do real work, be part of something, and not do it alone.
